The radio blared out Honky Tonk Blues
Somewhere along the banks of a deep New York lake
The newborn child lifted his face to the summer sun and screamed in ecstasy
And the cradle did rock
And the years did roll
And a burning yearning did take hold
And it swelled within
And it did burst forth erupting with tremendous force
A raw rebellious untamed fire
A fervent frenzy of desire
Reaching, souring ever higher like howling wind
a VOICE did clamor.
And some were shocked and some enamored
And some did listen as though spellbound
And word did spread from town to town
And to this day he does resound a shrieking, waling, whelp
